Vips from all over the world seek homes in the area.

Not a month goes by without the real estate market buzzing with exclusive activity . This summer was no exception :the quest by numerous wealthy celebrities (recently Russians in particular such as Nurlan Kapparov at Griante Cadenabbia ) and famous VIPs was a prominent story not only local newspapers but also with international magazines , such as Vanity Fair America , which placed our lake in the limelight with a captivating feature.

The latest news from the property experts is that Silvio Berlusconi has, for the moment , interrupted his lengthy negotiations to buy Villa Bellinzaghi (valued aprox. € 12 million) in Cernobbio. Instead ,the nearby Villa d’Este - considered the best hotel in the world for some time now –is the object of desire of the sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’ izzadin Waddaulah , who would like to buy the entire hotel package that includes Como’s Hotel Palace and Hotel Barchetta as well as Villa La Massa in Tuscany .

Several years ago ,another prince –the Saudi Sultan –bin Abdul Aziz al Saud – took up residence in Torno at the splendid Villa Mia ,which occupies a decidedly picturesque and romantic position.

The ex –E.R. doctor relaxes , goes in for a spot of sport and works at his Lake Como home .In fact ,part of the villa has been fitted out so that editing of actor/director’s films may be performed..Good Night and Good Luck is one success that took shape in Laglio. Instead , this summer the handsome George was working on Leatherheads – the 1920s football comedy starring Renee Zellweger. The director’s third creation , the film is scheduled for completion in the coming months. In the meantime Mr. Clooney drove the paparazzi wild at the recent Venice Film Festival ,where he presented Michael Clayton . .Coming to the cinema theatres soon , this movie sees the actor in the role of a lawyer seeking redemption.
