Gran Tarajal Area Information

Gran Tarajal is the second most populated town in Fuerteventura next to the capital, Puerto Del Rosario. Due to its geographic location and commercial port, the town is the central area for importing and exporting goods, particularly for the southern part of the island. The most popular local products for import and export are fish, cheese and agricultural produce. This town was once a famous gateway for numerous visitors going to Fuerteventura . Historically, it was used by the missionaries, bishops and Barbary pirates who asked the locals help in disembarking. Gran Tarajal has a black-sand beach complemented by a very striking seafront promenade with several Spanish bars and restaurants over-looking the beach. Because of the old quay, the seas in Gran Tarajal are very calm - perfect for a paddle or a swim to cool off in the hot Canarian sun. The Gran Tarajal streets follow the shape of the land. The key feature of the town is the volcano that rises up.
