Bedrooms: Downstairs, one king size room. Upstairs, master bedroom with kingsize bed, double aspect and shower and w.c. en suite . One small double room with double aspect, large single room and spacious bunk room/playroom. Carpets and duvets.

Bathrooms: Family Bathroom, bath, wc. whb, upstairs and second shower, wc. whb downstairs.

Kitchen & Dining: Large open plan kitchen, well equipped with double oven and grill, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, el. kettle, microwave. Washing machine and drier in separate utility. Solid dining table and chairs. Plenty ware and utensils.

Sitting Room: Large sitting room with open fire. Carpeted. Small TV. Oil fired central heating. Sofas and easy chair. Separate sun lounge, small table and a couple of chairs. Excellent area to double as a children’s play room. One wall is a huge blackboard, ideal for scribblers. Downstairs floors a mixture of wood, carpet and stone.

Garden: The house has several sun decks placed to catch the sun as it moves around the house. Surrounded by meadows and fields the garden is safe and well away from the road. There are goal posts for budding footballers.

View: Immediately over meadows and pastures, and beyond to Roaring Water Bay, looking in a straight line to Jeremy Irons’ castle at Kilcoe.

Pets: Pets are welcome – there is a good lobby area and utility for them and a secure outbuilding. It is requested they do not go upstairs. It should be noted also there is often stock in neighbouring fields.

Hazards / Drawbacks: Nothing obvious.

General Comments: A beautiful spacious house particularly ideal for a three generational family holiday with downstairs bedroom and shower room. Located close by, but well away from the national routeway, it places the house well for travelling in all directions on the Mizen Peninsula

THE MIZEN PENINSULA

West Cork has been described as 'A Place Apart', by location - tucked at the very south western end of Ireland. A long bony finger of land pointing boldly into the Atlantic Ocean, the Mizen is different. Magical names: Dereenatra; Knocknaphuca; Ballyrisode; Mount Gabriel, Fasnet Light and Heron's Cove. High hills, low mountains, rivers, streams, hidden valleys, soaring cliffs and sandy beaches and an ocean that is never far from view, it is the ideal holiday destination.

Walker, swimmer, horseman, sailor, painter, golfer, writer, birdwatcher or just professional relaxer this is a place you could be happy in. The weather is mixed and rarely that cold. We enjoy summer sun and unseasonably good weather in spring and autumn. That said, we do rain rather well, mist and fog on occasions and, well, sometimes the wind can be spectacular. The Gulf Stream affects us and there are pockets of lush vegetation and microclimates.

THE VILLAGES OF THE MIZEN

Each village along the Mizen has its own character from the quayside hamlet of Crookhaven with more pubs than shops and nearby access to the long, sandy strands at Barley Cove, Chimney Cove and the Shelly Strand. Next is sleepy Goleen, which thrums with activity in the summer and returns into hibernation for the winter.

Schull is fashionable, with all kinds of shops, bars, restaurants and cafés. The Sailing Centre hosts international class Regattas throughout the year and in August there is a week of sailing events along the peninsula culminating in Schull Regatta. During the year there is an arts festival, the Corona Fastnet short film festival and a triathalon. See www.schull.ie. To the east is post card pretty Ballydehob, with its special name, artistic community, unique 12 arched viaduct, interesting antique shop and the best pubs to catch an impromptu traditional music session. From here you hit the N.71 the road which, if you like to tour, links you to Bantry and the Beara peninsula, The Ring of Kerry and Killarney, Skibbereen and on to Cork and the rest of the world. Kerry, Cork air and Rinkgaskiddy ferry ports are roughly 85km www.fastnetline.com. Dublin, 400km. Rosslare ferry port 200 km.
