Our Idylic holiday Lodges at The Great Glen Water Park at South Laggan in the Scottish Highlands are situated in an enviable position. Imagine relaxing by a Highland Loch, the stillness only disturbed by the lapping waves, the cry of a waterfowl or the distant whisper of a mountain waterfall. Escape to the Great Glen Water Park Club, set in some of the finest scenery of the Scotland.

For the more active, there is mountain biking, clay pigeon shooting, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, rock climbing, abseiling and The Nordic Ski School, all available with qualified instruction. Loch Ness is just minutes away and there's always the hope of catching a glimpse of the famous monster.

The lively village of Fort Augustus is just 7 miles away. This is where the Caledonian Canal joins Loch Ness through a series of lock gates, which are located in the centre of the village. It has a number of lively pubs and some good restaurants.

Great Glen is an excellent base for many places of interest. Within a half an hour to hour and a half you are in striking distence of Loch Ness, Fort Augustus and Fort William. We recommend that you visit Eileen Donan Castle, the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore, book a glass bottom boat ride from the Kyle of Lochalsh and a gondala ride up the Nevis Range.

Fort William is 20 miles and Inverness 45 miles away. Both have seen a number of new pubs and restaurants open in the last few years and now offer a very good choice of nightlife and shopping facilities.

For scenery, nearby Loch Garry (loch shaped like Scotland), Nevis Range cable car and Glencoe provide spectacular highland scenery at its best. If you wish to travel slightly further afield the beautiful island of Skye is within a day-trip.

Our lodges are fully equipped to the highest standards with central heating, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, oven, telephone and television. Onsite facilities also include an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, solarium, spa, bar, coffee shop and restaurant. There is also a games room, childrens play area, half size tennis court and family orientated activities. For the keen fisherman there is also salmon and trout fishing.

Pets are welcome at the resort. There is a charge of £20 per pet per week. You need to let the resort know in advance if you do plan to bring your pet along. A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed.

Inverness Area Information

The highlands of Scotland is a wonderful place to holiday. From the vibrant city of Inverness, "the city of the Highlands", to remote crofting communities, spectacular mountains, waterfalls, acclaimed landscape views and mirror-like lochs, the area has all you will need for a wonderful holiday. You will find castles, museums, steam trains, gardens, whisky, ancient mountains, arts and crafts, wildlife and more activities than you can imagine.

Inverness is a modern bustling city with some great shopping opportunties. Located at the top of the Great Glen a great variety of different kinds of landscape lie within easy reach. Loch Ness is only a few minutes drive. To the south and west lie the big hills in the heart of the Highlands, notably around Glen Affric. West of Inverness and with the little town of Beauly at its northern gateway, the long glen of Strathglass leads into these heartlands.

East of Inverness, the hills gradually give way to the narrow and sheltered lowland strip around the edge of the Moray Firth, where the main town is Nairn, a long-established small resort notable for its golf and fine beaches.

Overall, this area offers plenty of Scottish strands to follow, with a good range of historic sites and castles, as well as Europe's best preserved 18th-century fort at Fort George. The sport and activity choice is also wide-ranging and includes both cruising on Loch Ness (monsters, maybe) and also on the Moray Firth (dolphins, almost definitely). Shopping for Scottish crafts, plus all the nightlife and the cultural programme of Scotland's most northerly city, are just a few of the other options.
