Holiday Home Description

Our renovated cottage in the Creuse region of France provides a perfect opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and yet there is still plenty to do in the area. The typical farm labourer’s cottage is in a small farming hamlet set amidst rolling countryside less than 1.5 hours from Limoges airport, with its regular Ryanair flights to many parts of the UK. It is also easily accessible from the airports at Poitiers and Tours. The cottage has its own private garden and is very comfortable. It sleeps up to 4/5 adults and or 1/2 children in the two first floor bedrooms. It is equipped to cater for babies, having a travel cot, high chair, pram/carry cot, sterilizer, etc. There is a modern well-fitted kitchen with all the usual white goods to make life easy. A large lounge with log burner, modern shower room and an upstairs washroom and WC complete the living accommodation. The sunny grass garden is a lovely place to play, eat, or just relax under the shade of the ancient oak tree and sip a glass or two of local wine.

Creuse Area Information

The closest small town to the house (8km) is Boussac with its wonderful market on Thursdays and the grand Chateau. It has two supermarkets and places to eat. There are several small swimming lakes not far away and the splendid Lake Vassiviere is an easy drive to the south. This large lake has water sports facilities and makes a great day out for the children. Just north is the pretty small town of La Chatre with a lovely market square. George Sands lived here and Chopin often visited. To the west is the tourist town of Argenton-sur-Creuse and to the south Aubusson, famous for its tapestries and the wonderful city of Limoges. A little further to the north west is Poitiers where you can easily while away the whole day at Futuroscope. For something quite different, a day spent in the volcanic countryside of the Auvergne is not to be missed.

The local vineyards of Chateaumeillient (VDQS) are about 15minutes from the house and you are not far away from the internationally renowned wine regions of Sancerre and Pouilly.
