Holiday Home Description
For those who are interested in Welsh history and tales of rivalry and swashbuckling pirates Lleiniog has it all. Not to mention a reputation for having a variety of ghosts in the main house. Those fascinated by nature will love the property as it is home to bats, hares, barn owls and even slow worms and the odd adder basking in the sun. The part of the Menai Straits infront of the house is a triple SSI area and has the remains of a stone pier which can be seen at low tide. Dublin is also only a 90 minute sea crossing away so you can easily take a day trip to Ireland.
The Granary is up an easy flight of stairs and has amazing views across the Menai Straits to Snowdonia.
It has a double bedroom and single bedroom.
The living area is open plan with a flat screen television with inbuilt DVD player and the original wooden floors and pine beams. For some reason BBC can sometimes be hard to get depending on the wind since everything went digital. We apologise if that happens whilst you are there and we will keep trying to get the problem sorted out.
The kitchen is complete with fridge freezer, microwave, oven, toaster and kettle.
The water is heated in the kitchen and the bathroom sink as you use it and the heating is night storage.
The Shower room has an electric shower.
All in all this is a very economic apartment with regards to use of electricity which has to be a plus!
Notes on accommodation
We provide all the linen and towels, dishcloths and tea towels. We also can provide a high chair and a cot at extra cost. All the cottages are Grade II listed and each has its own very individual personality.
Accessibility
The only cottage that would be suitable for someone with mobility problems would be Lleiniog Cottage as one can sleep on the ground floor in the sofa bed in the sitting room and use the ground floor bathroom. However, the doorways are not wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair unfortunately. We cannot change this as the property is Grade II listed.
Outside
All the cottages are accessed by the second drive entrance. There is plenty of parking for the cars. The Bothy has its own little front garden and Lleiniog Cottage has seating outside the cottage. The Granary has no immediate garden area but as we are in the country there are plenty of places to go and sit and enjoy the scenery. We encourage people to recycle as much as they can but we also find that our bins and specialist recycling boxes keep being 'removed'. There is a recycling centre in the first car park on the left as you approach Beaumaris from Lleiniog.
Notes on prices
We have four different costings depending on the seasons. Low Season is between £190 - £299 per week or £120 - 180 up to three nights. Mid season is from £260 - £359 per week or £140 - £200 up to three nights. High season from £360 - £450 per week or £160 -£220 up to three nights. Peak Season from £460 - £580 per week or £220 - £310 up to three night. Extra nights are paid from £50 - £120 per night for short breaks. We include all linen and towel butexclude the electricity costs in the prices.

Anglesey Area Information
Coast/Beach
We are just across the road from Lleiniog Beach so walking it takes no more than one minute. There is a wonderful sandy beach at Llandonna some 5 miles away on the other side of the peninsula which would take some 10 minutes by car.
Golf
There are two golf courses in Beaumaris 2 miles away. Llangefni has a municipal golf course by the Oriel Ynys Mon and there are clubs in Rhosniegr and Holyhead.
Skiing
There is a dry ski slope in Llandudno on the Great Orme which is only three quarters of an hour away.
Special interest holidays
The official name of the main house is Castell Lleiniog indicating that there was probably a castle on the site prior to the present day building which in itself dates from the 1600s . Today it is family owned and the renovated farm cottages and outbuildings are rented out as unique holiday homes.
We intend to hold courses at Lleiniog on Bats, Sculpting and painting as well as weekends with a well know singer/comedy group informing people about local history in the next year, so please let me know if you are interested and we can try to plan around your interests.
Travel
Liverpool and Manchester airports are the nearest commercial airports to us some 65 miles away. On the Island we have RAF Valley airport which runs a service to Cardiff and back daily and is subsidized by the Welsh Assembly Government about 20 miles away. As we are very rural the use of car is preferable but we do have a regular bus service that runs past Lleiniog or to the end of the road a 5 minutes walk which takes you to Bangor with connections to all parts of Anglesey and North/Mid Wales.
Distances
Llangoed is our local village and walking distance from us along the river Lleiniog (15 munutes max). There we have an excellent PO selling everything you need including the best bacon and local eggs, bread and honey. Beaumaris is two and half miles away with its castle and Gaol and has masses of good eating places as well as interesting and individual shops catering for all needs. Penmon Point with its lighthouse and famous Dove cote is 2 miles away. Llandudno is only 30 miles away.
Further details
Dublin is an easy day trip from Anglesey and makes an exciting day out for a change. We recommend the Bull in Beaumaris, Harry's bar at Henllys Hall, the Ship at Red Wharf Bay and the Straits in Menai Bridge for really good but pricier food. The Straits offer a special price if you eat before 7.15 pm. Cheaper but very good meals can be had at the Pier, Moo Baa's, The Pizza House and the Sailors Return in Beaumaris. We are lucky to have an excellent butcher in Moo Baas who sells his own Black Welsh Beef and his lambs. Gareth at the local Llangoed PO has local vegetables, honey, bacon and eggs. Well work a visit. We now have Waitrose in Menai bridge where Princess Kate can be seen shopping on occassions. In Bangor there is Morrisons, Tescos, Aldi & Lidl.
There is a farmers market in Menai Bridge once a month and in Llangefni a market twice a week. Also in Llangefni there is an Asda, Iceland and Home Bargains, plus an Aldi and a Lidl.
There a number of car boots sales on the Island the biggest being at Mona.
Excellent windsurfing, sailing and water sports can be had at Rhosneigr. There is a lot of fishing and sailing available in Beaumaris. There is even a dry ski slope in Llandudno as well as a ten pin bowling alley.
North Wales has Castles everywhere from Plas Newydd on Anglesey to Caernavon Castle, Pnerhyn Castle at Bangor, Harlech, Rhuddlan, Denbigh, Dolwyddedan, and Fflint Castles.
The Snowdonia National Park is renowned for its beauty as well as its fantastic climbs and walks.
We are also privileged in North Wales to be the home to many outstanding artists and sculptors. Work can be seen in the various galleries such as the Oriel Ynys Mon, the Tegfran Gallery in Menai Bridge and the Oriel Mostyn in Llandudno, We have slate museum at Blaeunau Ffestiniog and the Electric Mountain at Llanberris which uses water to create electricity at peak periods.
One can even undertake a 124 mile walk around Anglesey on its famous Coast Path created a few years ago.
