Villa San Cristobal is a huge 5 bed roomed luxury villa sleeping up 10, set amoungst the olive groves of Poniente of Granada. This historic private Cortijo, once the village school has been transformed into a luxurious holiday home with pool and gardens which marries the old charm of rustic Andalucia with the modern ease of fully fitted kitchen, WiFi and central heating and games. Situated in the center of the Andalucian olive belt, it's a perfect base for trips out to the coast, Seville, Granada with its Alhambra and Cordoba. Alternatively you can lounge by the pool for the day and maybe nip out to one of the local villages for a leisurely lunch. The local area still retains its culture and heritage and is one of the few places left in Spain where tapas are served free with every drink. The local food runs from home cooked meals to 5 star decadence. In addition there are many archeological sites and white villages, along with one of the best preserved Roman Villas outside of Italy.

If traveling with children rest assured that our home is child friendly. We know difficult it traveling with children and more importantly their stuff! That's why you can leave it at home as we provide: Many baby and child toys, on request sterilizers, baby monitor, cots, baby backpack, changing mat, bath and high chairs. There's also a games console, kids games and swing ball for the rest of the family.

When renting in summer months the spacious interior has marble floors throughout and high ceilings to keep you cool. For the winter there is central heating and double glazing to keep you warm as toast.

Loja Area Information

Both Casa Caballos and Villa San Cristobel are lacated in Puerto Blanquillo or White Haven, a small hamlet nestled in the Sierra Martilla, at the heart of Granada's olive growing region. Just an hour's drive from the coast, airport and Granada. The nearest villages; Zagra and Ventorres de San Jose, both retain a peaceful, traditional Andalucian way of life that is quickly disappearing on the coast and in many of the well visited Pueblo Blancos or 'White Villages' elsewhere.

None of the Bars or Restaurants will appear in the Zagat or Michelin guides, however armed with a few Spanish words and a phrase book you will be welcomed by the friendly patrons and locals.

The events include feats of daring do by local men on horseback, funfairs, masks and the parading of the saints through the streets. All of course topped off with much paella, wine and all night dancing.

Historic Loja is only fifteen minutes away from us. It's the largest town in western Granada. There are three large supermarkets and one indoor fresh market for all your weekly grocery needs. For the shopaholics amongst you, there are numerous varied shops and a weekly outdoor market in which to pick up some gorgeous things.

Casa Caballos looks across the valley to Iznajar lake. Just twenty minutes away, this is the ideal spot for the fishing and boating fraternity. Its beach is perfect for a spot of picnicking, sunbathing or swimming in the freshwater.

Iznajar itself is the archetypal white village, perched atop a cliff with restaurants, bars and a castle.

Heading north from us is the spectacularly sited town of Montefrio, just twenty five minutes away. The nearby necropolis and archaeological site makes a great walk to build up an appetite for the town's restaurants.

Priego de Cordoba is further north and is full of magnificent architecture and baroque churches. With a wide range of eateries and shops, it's a great cultural day out.

The City of Granada is just an hour away with the Alhambra Palace being one of Andalucia's prize attractions. The palace is rated as the eighth wonder of the world. With its breathtaking gardens and glorious palaces and court buildings it's a must see.

The Sierra Nevada provides the backdrop to Granada. Depending on what time of year you come, you can Ski in the resort or just spend the day walking in the mountains. The entire range is a nature reserve and provides the habitats for many of Spain's rarest birds and animals.

The city itself is a cosmopolitan gem. Being a big student town, its fringe activities are plentiful, and so are its tapas. Many bars boast that the tapas served free with the drinks you buy are more than enough to subdue anyone's appetite.

Other days out include Cordoba and Sevilla just a two and half hour drive away.

The Alpajurras, Malaga and Almeria are all a must see and in easy reach. All just waiting for you to discover.
