As with everywhere when you rent villas in Santiago, Chile, you get a much better deal than through the hotels. Holiday villas in Santiago are a great base to explore the center of Santiago with its Museum Pre-Columbiana, the house of Pablo Neruda, the Mercado Central with exotic fishes and mussles, the Vega Central with a difference of fruit and vegetables, Plaza de Armas for a well deserved rest in the sun and the changing of the guard in La Moneda to mention a few things here.
If you explore a little outside Santiago center we would recommend the vine yards where you can have lunch and taste all the wine you like, Las Dominicus for artisania and lunch, the Pottery town of Pomaire and the traditional Chilean food there and of course the rough nature and thermal baths of Cajon Del Maipo, go and ride horse there or try rafting. From June till October there are 5 ski resorts open here but ensure you book your holiday accommodation early as it gets very busy! All of these are easy reached from when staying in holiday homes in Santiago center.
Visit Adobes de Argomeda or Buenos Muchachos from your holiday homes in Santiago for traditional Chilean dances from north to south with traditional Chilean food such as the Parilla or BBQ. Santiago has restaurants with food from all over the world, Argentinian, Chinese, German, Peruvian and a lot more. For a nice night out Bella Vista or Plaza Nunoa are great places to sit outside with a drink.
The metro system is world class and there are buses to everywhere from Santiago, so a day at the beach in Vina Del Mar or Valparaiso is only 1.5 hours away by bus.
There are also a lot of parks with play areas for the children here, Parque Forestal has live puppets shows and there are holiday homes in Santiago within easy reach. Beside this there is Fantasialandia which is a theme park and Parque Mahuida which is for the young and old.
The 18th of September is Liberation day and the days before and after are full of folklorewith BBQ's, different 'Chilean' drinks and Chilean rodeo with music.
