Perched on the northernmost tip of the United Arab Emirates Ras Al Khaimah, is often overlooked by tourists who tend to opt for the glitz and glamour of Dubai or Abu Dhabi. However Ras Al Khaimah has a different aesthetic from most Gulf Cities, with light traffic, unpolluted skylines, miles of pristine sandy beaches and stunning mountain ranges, this region has always been an ideal escape mixing its striking scenery with its own laid back rhythm, we’ve just haven’t noticed yet.
A region of great heritage, Ras Al Khaimah was known as Julfar in ancient times and was a popular stopover for merchants traveling from Europe to the Far East. It was also a major city in the Qawasim dynasty and had a fine reputation for commerce and business since the 14th century when the Qawasim tribes settled on the Arabian Peninsula.
Nowadays, in true UAE style the city is under a transformation to revamp its image as a luxury holiday destination and playground for the rich with the construction of the astonishing Al Hamra Village. The Village is a lavish residential community integrating a stunning salt-water lagoon at its core and including a marina, the first “links style” golf course in the UAE, a 5 star deluxe hotel, a 5 star beach resort, a shopping mall with over 100 shops ranging from designer clothes to furniture, and thousands of luxury townhouses and villa’s scattered all around the village, it really is an unbelievable project and fantastic place to enjoy a luxury holiday in a 5-star environment for 3-star prices as Perfect Getaways have an amazing array of villas and apartments on the site.
