Tell Me About the Destination
Iceland, a land of fire and ice, was my destination for the first time, and I can confidently say it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Despite the cold, the beauty and uniqueness of Iceland made every moment truly amazing. From stunning landscapes to thrilling adventures, Iceland offers something for everyone. If you ever get the chance to visit, seize it—it’s an incredible place that will leave you in awe.
Accommodation
During my stay, I chose the Foss Hotel Reykjavík, a centrally located hotel that provided the perfect base for exploring the city. With shops, bars, and restaurants just a five-minute walk away, and convenient transport links right outside, it couldn’t have been more ideal. The hotel itself was comfortable and welcoming, making it a great choice for anyone visiting Reykjavík.
Local Area
The local area around my accommodation was vibrant and full of life. Just a five-minute walk from the hotel, the town offered plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. One of the highlights was walking through the town and ending up at what I called ‘Rainbow Street,’ a colourful and lively area that added a touch of magic to the experience.
Excursions
Iceland is known for its breathtaking excursions, and I made sure to take full advantage of them. Here are the highlights:
- Northern Lights Tour: Witnessing the Northern Lights was a dream come true. The ethereal display of colours dancing across the night sky was mesmerising and unforgettable.
- Sky Lagoon with Spa Ritual: Relaxing at the Sky Lagoon was a rejuvenating experience. The spa ritual, combined with the stunning views, made it a perfect way to unwind.
- Golden Circle Tour with Icelandic Horses: This tour took me through some of Iceland’s most iconic sights, including geysers, waterfalls, and the Thingvellir National Park. Meeting Icelandic horses added a unique and memorable touch to the adventure.
Food
The food in Iceland was absolutely fantastic. At the Foss Hotel Reykjavík, we enjoyed a buffet breakfast that was both delicious and varied. While dining out, I found the restaurant food to be expensive but worth every penny. The fish, freshly caught each day, was a highlight and a must-try for anyone visiting. The culinary experience in Iceland is one that will delight food lovers.
What Customers Would This Suit
Iceland is a destination that caters to everyone. I travelled with my mum, dad, brother, nan, grandad, and auntie, covering a wide range of ages, and we all had an amazing time. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or cultural experiences, Iceland has something to offer for every age group and interest.
When Is Best to Visit
The best time to visit Iceland is from September to March, as this is when you’re most likely to see the Northern Lights at their best. The winter months offer a magical experience with snow-covered landscapes and the chance to witness one of nature’s most spectacular phenomena.

My trip to Iceland with EasyJet Holidays was truly a bucket list trip and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
