Portaventura Holiday Deal

Staff Name: Ellie Houghton, Travel Consultant in our Birkenhead branch
Date of Trip: 1st October 2024
Location: PortAventura Salou

Destination Overview

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Salou, where I stayed in the resort centre and PortAventura World. This dual experience allowed me to enjoy both a relaxing resort atmosphere and the excitement of theme parks. The theme parks were fantastic, catering to both adults and children, with a plethora of activities to keep everyone entertained. The resort centre offered a vibrant mix of shops, restaurants, and bars, making it a perfect holiday destination.

Accommodation Highlights

During the first half of my trip, I stayed at the Gold River Hotel, which boasts a wild western theme that perfectly complements the park’s ambiance. I also explored several other unique hotels:

  • Mansion De Lucy: A luxurious 5-star Victorian-style mansion reminiscent of the gold mining era.
  • Colorado Creek: A charming retreat that takes you back to the early 19th century.
  • Hotel El Paso: A delightful journey to the sun-baked lands of colonial Mexico.
  • Hotel Caribe: A Caribbean-themed haven, with each block named after a different Caribbean Island.
  • PortAventura Hotel: A picturesque Mediterranean village-themed hotel.

All these hotels were incredible, each offering a distinct twist on their themes. They are conveniently located within the parks and include free tickets to both PortAventura and Ferrari Land!

For the second half of my trip, I stayed at the Ponient Hotel Dorada Palace by PortAventura World. This hotel features an adults-only rooftop bar with a pool and hot tubs, two family pools, a restaurant, and an amazing entertainment team. It’s just a five-minute walk to the resort centre, which is brimming with shops, restaurants, bars, and the beach! I also toured the Ponient Hotel Piramide Salou by PortAventura World, which is similarly close to the resort centre and beach. Both hotels offer PortAventura tickets and a free shuttle bus to the parks.

Exploring the Local Area

The resort centre of Salou is fantastic! There are numerous shops, restaurants, and bars to choose from, some even featuring bouncy castles to keep the children entertained. The beach is just a few minutes’ walk away, ensuring that everything you need is within easy reach.

Excursions and Activities

Upon arriving in Salou, I had a guided tour of all the themed hotels at PortAventura World, followed by a meal hosted by the PortAventura Commercial Team & Manager at the LaLiga 29s Sports Bar restaurant in Ferrari Land. The following days were spent exploring the parks and enjoying the rides. The variety of attractions catered to all ages, and I even braved the Red Force ride in Ferrari Land!

Culinary Delights

The food throughout the trip was exceptional, with a wide variety of options to suit the whole family. Dining out offered plenty of tapas restaurants, as well as larger meal options, all served with excellent service.

Ideal for Couples and Families

I highly recommend Salou for both couples and families. With so much to do and plenty of opportunities to relax, it’s the perfect holiday destination for anyone.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Salou is between March and October. During these months, all amenities are open, PortAventura World is fully accessible, and you can enjoy the warm, sunny weather. This trip was an unforgettable experience filled with fun, thrills, and lively moments. Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, Salou has something for everyone!
